Democrat Candidate Doesnt Qualify

Here is an interesting story out of southern Ohio. It seems a Democratic Candidate for Congress from the 6th District failed to get enough signatures to be on the ballet in November. This is a huge boo-boo on their part because now, the Republicans have an open door to win in that historically Democratic stronghold. This is from news.enquirer.com:
The ruling is potentially devastating for Democrats. The Appalachian 6th
District seat has been a Democratic stronghold but has been targeted by national
Republicans as their best chance to pick up a seat.

However, dont think the Dems will let this one go peacefully:

Brian Rothenberg , spokesman for the Ohio Democratic Party, said Wilson
(the candidate who screwed up) would consider legal challenges and could also
file as a write-in primary candidate or as an independent for the November
general election.

The seat is being vacated by Rep. Ted Strickland who gave it up to take a shot at the Governors Mansion, but the Democrats chances to maintain their seat in Congress seems to be fading fast.

Ohio will be losing upwards of 3 congressional seats anyways...and Ohio is solidly shifting more and more in favor of the GOPs. The Dems will pick up plenty of seats elsewhere in 2006, this one won't matter in the long run.
