Iraq War Vet Sues Michael Moore

DISGUSTING

Well this is just typical of Michael Moore. One of the wounded soldiers he used in 'Fahrenheit 911' is suing the idiot because he used an interview that the soldier did without his permission, to undermine the war in which the soldier lost both his legs, but strongly supports.

Sgt. Peter Damon should be applauded for his service, not used as a pawn in an attempt to take cheap shots at the commander-in-chief. I really wish that Moore would have tried this stuff during WWII, it would have been quite comical to see him get his ass beat before being locked up in an insane asylum.

By the way, Sgt. Damon is suing Moore for $85 million.

Congress Gone Wild

TOTALLY OUT OF TOUCH

I heard this last night on the news and I thought it was outrageous. I havent been able to find much about it online, so I will update this when I can.

Congress wants to pass legislation because of the raid on Rep. Jefferson's office a few weeks ago. As you know, many in Congress are up in arms about this, because they say that the raid, which is unprecedented, was also unconstitutional. Im not exactly sure what the wording of any such legislation would say, but Im sure it will make them unaccountable for any wrong doing that members might be a part of.

The reaction to all this is alarming to me. It almost seems that many congress people are trying to hide something and are scared to death that their congressional offices might be subject to criminal raids. Almost all Americans think that any elected person should be subjected to criminal probes like anyone else, and if you are accused of a crime, and a judge issues a warrant to search your office for evidence, then so be it.

These people want to be above the law, and its just pathetic.

Again I will update this when more is known about any future legislation.

Do Liberals Hate Hillary?

TROUBLE IN PARADISE

Evidentally many in the left-wing of the Democratic Party are pretty upset with Hillary Clinton these days. They seem to think they she has gone to far to the right, especially when it comes to the war in Iraq. This says alot about just how crazy liberals are today in this country, when Hillary Clinton is too conservative for them.

Besides the war, Im not sure how liberals feel about her positions, probably because she hasnt taken any. Doesnt it amaze any of you that a person can be a US Senator for an entire term and do absolutely nothing, get re-elected, and then probably being your party's nominee for President of the United States.

Im sure chairman Dean is very proud.

Al Gore Slams Bush

STILL BITTER AL?

I dont really know what Al Gore is doing these days. There seems to be a buzz about whether or not he will run for president in 2008, and the media is giving him a free pass on everything he says and does, especially when it comes to his stupid movie about global warming. He recently gave an interview with an English newspaper calling the Bush administration "a renegade band of right-wing extremists".

In my opinion, going to a foreign country to talk crap about your own, is considered treason. Gore is now lumped in with morons like the Dixie Chicks as far as Im concerned. And I hope he does run for president, because seeing him and Hillary duke it out only to lose to whomever the GOP picks will be the sweetest victory I could ever imagine.

A Letter to Mrs. Bixby

IN MEMORIAM

This letter was written to a woman during the Civil War by Abraham Lincoln. Some of you will know it because it was read in the movie 'Saving Private Ryan'. I love it and it really portrays and illustrates sacrifice in the most eloquent way.

Executive Mansion, Washington, November 21, 1864

Mrs. Bixby, Boston, Massachusettes:

Dear Madam,

I have been shown the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant-General of Massachusettes that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thank of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so so costly a sacrifice upon the alter of freedom.

Yours very Sincerely and respectfully,

Abraham Lincoln.

Bush at West Point

GREAT SPEECH

President Bush gave an amazing graduation speech at West Point over the weekend. I hope you all read it. Here is a snipit...

We're still in the early stages of this struggle for freedom and, like those first years of the Cold War, we've seen setbacks, and challenges, and days that have tested America's resolve. Yet we've also seen days of victory and hope. We've seen people in Afghanistan voting for the first democratic parliament in a generation. We have seen jubilant Iraqis dancing in the streets, holding up ink-stained fingers, celebrating their freedom. We've seen people in Lebanon waving cedar flags and securing the liberty and independence of their land. We've seen people in Kyrgyzstan drive a corrupt regime from power and vote for democratic change. In the past four years alone, more than 110 million human beings across the world have joined the ranks of the free -- and this is only the beginning. The message has spread from Damascus to Tehran that the future belongs to freedom -- and we will not rest until the promise of liberty reaches every people and every nation.

Well said.

My Recap of the Press Conference

LOVED IT

I thought last nights press conference between Bush and Blair was magnificent. I thought Bush was especially on his game, while Blair was not as polished as usual, but still very effective. The president seemed very calm and relaxed, and took each question in stride with very precise and articulated answers. Bush has really become quite effective in this types of settings, and he should do them much more often.

Now, on to some specifics that I thought were great. Firstly, one of the opening questions regarded the United Nations and basically how worthless it is, and the first words out of Bush's mouth were, "I would like to see a UN that is effective," that was awesome. W really layed the wood to the UN, and Blair basically said the same thing. I have always said that George W. Bush should run the UN after he is out of office, but someone asked Blair if he thought about doing it, and I believe he would also be very good leading the horrible United Nations.

Secondly, the president gave a very good and long lecture on Iraq and how we are not only winning, but how we will end up being victorious. His answer was very very good, leaving Blair almost speechless, because there really wasnt anything more to say. Bush was obviously extremely well prepared for any question questioning his Iraq policy, and he knocked it out of the park.

Thirdly, I liked that fact that the immigration issue was not even brought up. That issue is a loser for Bush, so its absence was very welcome as far as Im concerned. Questions about the economy and Iran were asked, so the whole thing was not totally focused on Iraq. But the majority of it was.

And finally, I really enjoyed how Bush handled the question about mistakes that had been made. Everyone was waiting for that question because he gets asked it all the time. But this time he was very forthcoming, and his answer was great. He said he regretted his rhetoric after 9/11, telling the terrorits to 'bring it on,' and saying that he wanted Osama bin Laden, 'dead or alive.' He said he realized how those statements could be misinterpreted around the world, and basically apologized for them. It was very sincere. He also expressed regret for the Abu Ghraib problem, but said that those involved have been prosecuted.

All in all, I enjoyed every minute of it. Bush's candor was very refreshing, and he did a hell of a job. I am cautious however, because I know that the only thing the media is going to take away from the entire press conference is that Bush admitted mistakes in Iraq. Thats all they care about. But in reality, that was one of the last questions asked, and so much more was accomplished during the rest of the thing. Just be prepared for it, because they will use his admissions to undermine him like they always do. So just be forwarned.

Im proud of my president.

New Poll Out

GOP LOOKING GOOD

Ok a new poll was released by the University of Cincinnati, the first major one since the primary elections. Here is the entire story:

Democratic U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland has a slight lead over Republican Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell in the race for Ohio governor, according to a statewide poll released Thursday.

About 50 percent of registered voters said they would select Strickland versus 44 percent who would chose Blackwell, according to the first major poll since the primary election, conducted by the University of Cincinnati. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

The Ohio Poll, conducted from May 9 through May 21, also showed Republican U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine leading U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, the Democratic challenger for the Senate seat. About 52 percent of voters support DeWine versus 42 percent who favor Brown.

Democrats elbowed Paul Hackett, an Iraqi War veteran who was running a strong grassroots campaign against DeWine, out of the primary in hopes that the popular Brown could prevail in the wake of widespread Republican scandal.

Brown had the lowest name recognition of all four candidates, according to the poll, with just 77 percent of the 698 registered voters sampled knowing who he is. DeWine was recognized by 95 percent of people surveyed.

Ninety-two percent of those surveyed knew Blackwell's name, versus 79 percent who had heard of Strickland.

When asked whether they have a positive opinion of the candidates, people of all parties gave Strickland a 10 percent favorability rating. Blackwell's was lower at just 3 percent, fueled by a heavy unfavorable sentimate among registered Democrats. The rating measures the percentage difference between voters with positive and negative opinions of the candidate.

DeWine was viewed most positively, receiving a 15 percent favorability rating, compared to 7 percent for Brown.

The poll also revealed a significant lack of information about the candidates among registered voters. Forty-five percent of voters surveyed -- and particularly independents -- said they know too little about Blackwell to judge him. Fifty-one percent said they still need more information about Strickland, with only those in his southeastern Ohio congressional district claiming adequate knowledge.

I believe those numbers are very incouraging for Republicans. Blackwell might be down in the polls, but I believe as the campaign swings into high gear in the fall, he will be just fine. Also, I believe the more people learn about Sherrod Brown, the worse off he is. I live in his district, and the man is worthless.

Im confident about 2006.

Reuben Droughns Arrested

AGAIN

Ya know something, I think Cleveland truly is cursed when it comes to professional sports. I have been touting the Browns the entire off-season, thinking they could make a run toward the playoffs this year. But nooooooooooooooooo. We might have the dumbest players in the league. First you have Kellon Winslow, who is lucky to ever play again after his ridiculous motorcycle accident over a year ago. Now we have Reuben Droughns, who got arrested again this week, this time for domestic violence.

I really dont know what will happen to Reuben after this newest incident, but I must say I am very sick and tired of these guys making these stupid mistakes. We need Droughns as a player, but not if hes going to be in trouble with the law every other week. If he is convicted, I saw release the bum, we do not need another William Green on this team.

Go Browns *sigh*

Congress Does Good

FINALLY!

Today the Senate passed a very important piece of legislation. "The Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act," will bar protests within 300 feet of the entrance of a cemetary and within 150 feet of a road into the cemetary from 60 minutes before to 60 minutes after a military funeral. Any idiot who decides to violate that law will face an up to $100,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

The need for legislation like this comes as a group that calls themselves religious has been going to the funerals of servicemen killed overseas and protesting their deaths calling them acts of God. That is an absolute disgrace and I feel those people should be thrown out of our country. The 1st Amendment should not protect that sort of speech, and now it does not.

The act "will protect the sanctity of all 122 of our national cemeteries as shrines to their gallant dead," said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennessee.
Im very glad to see the Congress take on and pass this bill. Our elected leaders have been letting us all down lately, but this is one to be proud of. Thank God for this legislation, and I mean that.

Kinda fitting that this bill passes just days before Memorial Day. Coincidence?

GOP Convention in Cleveland?

25% CHANCE BABY!

I was completely unaware of this, but Cleveland has entered a bid to host the 2008 Republican Convention! No city could benefit more from it than Cleveland, and we would be an amazing host.

Cleveland is one of just four cities to submit bids Monday to host the 2008 Republican National Convention, a five-day affair that begins Sept. 1. Before Cleveland can think about the 50,000 potential visitors, worldwide attention and a potential $100 million windfall for local businesses, the city must top New York City and two other metropolitan areas, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Tampa-St. Petersburg.

Regardless of your political preference, this could do wonders for our beloved city, and I just think it would be awesome. I concede that right now, it is a long shot for such an event to hit up C-town, but Im hopeful we can do it.

Ill keep you all posted.

Bin Laden on the Move

Seen in Pakistan

Drudge has a story about a new sighting of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan.

Pakistani government sources tell ABC news they have "credible reports" that Osama bin Laden and his entourage have moved down from high mountainous peaks along the Afghan border to a valley area 40 miles inside the Pakistan border.

The officials say the reports put bin Laden around Kohistan's Kumrat Valley.

Officials said the reports were validated by the release of bin Laden's audio tape yesterday, which appears to have been recorded only two weeks earlier.

Such a quick turn-around suggests, say the officials, that bin Laden is much closer to civilization than he had been previously.

Previous audio and video tapes have taken four to six weeks to become public.

Hopefully this new move will be a grave error on his part and we can launch some cruise missles over there to fry his ass. I just hope this info is credible, but only time will tell.

The Next 'American Idol'...

IS TAYLOR HICKS

The man pictured above will be crowned the 2006 'American Idol' tonight. A website called dialidol.com has the results, and Hicks ran away with it. Im glad, because even though im no huge fan of Taylor Hicks, I cannot staaaaaand Katherine Mcphee.

The show last night was pretty boring to be honest. I was not wowed by either contestant. Hicks was consistant, where as Mcphee only sang well on one of three songs, her last being a complete disaster. Once Chris Daughtry went home, I didnt really care who won as long as it wasnt Mcphee, and it appears Im going to get my wish.

Overall, 2006 was a good season for the show, even though the end was anti-climactic. I hope that Hicks will have a good career, and I am pretty excited to see what kind of music he will throw at us, because the guy is a talented singer and entertainer, not with standing his annoying dance moves.

Anyways, Im glad its over. Cant wait till 2007.

More info on last nights show can be found here, here, and here.

TIME Kisses the Asses of the Dixie Chicks

STILL TRAITORS

Well I just got done reading the article in TIME magazine about the Dixie Chicks and their new album, and how the lead singer is now taking back her apology to the president after she said she was ashamed of being from the same state as him right before the Iraq war began in London, England. Now Natalie Maines says, "I apologized for disrespecting the office of the President, but I dont feel that way anymore. I dont feel he is owed any respect whatsoever."

The writer of the article is a man by the name of Josh Tyrangiel, who could not have kissed their butts anymore in this piece. This article was more of an open forum for these three idoits than an objective piece of journalism. At one point, the author describes singer Toby Keith, who has had a long-running rift with the Dixie Chicks, a 'brilliant redneck instigator.' Sweet.

As I said, this whole thing is just for the DC's to sell their brand new CD that came out yesterday, but Im thinking, and hoping, that it will do very very badly. Here is why:

"Id rather have a smaller following of really cool people who get it," says Maguire, "who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith. We dont want those kinds of fans. They limit what we can do."

Maguire is one of the DC's, and she is obviously a delusional fool. I love it when singers and entertainers pick who they want their fans to be. I especially enjoyed it when she said that people like that limit what they can do, when now they have fans who only like them for their political beliefs because they have basically alienated most fans who liked them for their musical talent.

I dont care how you slice it, I think that the Dixie Chicks are cowards and traitors. You DO NOT go on foreign soil and disrespect your country and president, no matter how much you may hate either one. I wanna see them do that at a concert in Nashville, or Salt Lake City, or a town that is Conservative, because that at least takes guts. They ruined their career's that day three years ago, and I think they know it. But rather than just apologize and try to mend fences, they come out with a new album with that first single called "not ready to make nice". I dont know who their publicist is, but that person is a baffoon. They should just shut up and sing country songs, its what they are good at. If they want to discuss politics, run for office.

I truly hope that nobody buys this CD, but I know some people will. If you really like their music, just do what I do, download it.

Why Vote for Mike Dewine?

HUGH HEWITT WEIGHS IN

Here are the reasons that blogger Hugh Hewitt
says that Ohioans should support Mike DeWine in November. I tend to agree with him, even though DeWine has not thrilled me as of late.

Senator Sherrod Brown is much to scary of a thought.

Vote DeWine.

Dem Congressman in DEEP Trouble

THE REAL CULTURE OF CORRUPTION

Congressman William Jefferson, a Democrat from Louisiana, was caught on tape taking $100,000 from an FBI agent. Check this:

As Jefferson and the informant passed notes about what percentage the lawmaker's family might receive, the congressman "began laughing and said, 'All these damn notes we're writing to each other as if we're talking, as if the FBI is watching,' " according to the affidavit.

This story should get more interesting as details become available. Jefferson should be prosectured to the full extent of the law. What a bum.

Oil at a 6-week Low!

DONT GET TOO EXCITED

Oil is currently trading below $68 per barrel for the first time in almost two months. It appears that inflation fears are driving the price down a bit, but I wouldnt expect any major relief at the pump as gas prices still remain above $2.00 on the market.

Oh well.

Edwards Calls Bush Worst President

STILL A JERK

Former VP candidate on the Kerry ticket John Edwards resurfaced over the weekend to call President Bush the 'worst president of our lifetime,' adding that Bush is 'absolutely' worse than Richard Nixon.

This is coming from a guy who was a one-term senator who did nothing of any substance while holding his elected office. I have thought this guy was slime ever since he talked about Mary Cheney being gay during the VP debate in 2004.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeze.

Cavs Blew It

BACK TO DETROIT

The Cavs should have won last nights game. They had numerous opportunitites to send the Pistons home for the summer, but they just could not capitolize. LeBron had a pretty good game, but not as good of one as the numbers might suggest. The Cavs are still missing way too many easy shots, lay-ups and such. Another aspect of their game that has been absent in their 3 losses thus far is their three point shooting. Detroit has been on fire from beyond the arc in this series, but the Cavs cant seem to be consistent. They only made 2 three pointers last night to the Pistons 6. That made Detroit +12, which is tough to overcome.

Watching the last minute of last nights game was like having your finger-nails plucked out one by one. When the Cavs failed to get a rebound in that last minute I went crazy. There is nothing more frustrating than watching a bunch of professionals fail to do something that is so elementary. And why when they finally did get the ball, did LeBron try to pass it when he should have just put up a three? If he wants to be a big star, he needs to take that shot.

Oh well, no use crying over what happened last night, they still have another chance on Sunday. I hope they can pull it off. If they play like they did last night, I dont expect much. GO CAVS.

Quote of the Day

KUDOS SENATOR DeMINT

A new UN report on the detention center for terrorists at Guantanamo Bay once again basically demonizes the United States for having these animals locked up. Upon getting this news, Senator Jim DeMont from South Carolina released a statement that hits the nail on the head baby...check this:

"Instead of finding new ways to critcize the United States, the United Nations should focus their attention on real human rights abuses. Iran is reportedly trying to revive Nazi tactics of discrimination against Jews and Christians and hundreds of thousands are dying because of genocide in Darfur," said Senator DeMint. "In the meantime, America will not forget the lessons of September 11th, and will keep captured terrorists from killing more innocent Americans."
Amen.

USA Today Reporter is a Democratic Donor

BIG SURPRISE

More Proof that Democrats are biased and are trying to ruin this country:

Leslie Cauley, the USA Today reporter who last week "broke" the news that three major U.S. telecommunications companies were assisting the National Security Agency in building a database to more easily track any communications by potential terrorists, is listed as a donor to former House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt, according to a search of The Center for Responsive Policits Web site, www.opensecrets.org

A search found a listing for "writer and journalist" Leslie Cauley, indicating she gave $2000 to Gephardt on June 30, 2003, when Gephardt was running for the Democratic presidential nomination. And that seems not to be her only tie to Democratic Politics.

I really wish the media would help us win the war on terror instead of constantly undermining it. Seriously, if these people get elected we are all doomed. And im not over-exaggerating.

Senate OK's Gay-Marriage Ban

ROSIE O'DONNELL'S GONNA BE PISSED

Today a Senate Panel voted 10-8 (party line) to OK a constitutional amendment banning gay-marriage throughout the United States. Now the measure will go to the full Senate, where it is believed it will die due to a lack of support. Remember, it will need a two-thirds majority to go to the states. We will see what will happen in the coming weeks.

In a side story, discussion got heated during the debate between Arlen Spector and Russ Feingold when Feingold threatened to walk out.

"If you want to leave, good riddance," The Senate Judiciary Chairman, Republican Arlen Specter, told Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Russell Feingold, who refused to participate because, he said, the meeting was not sufficiently open to the public.

"Ive enjoyed your lecture too. See you later, Mr. Chairman, "Feingold told the Pennsylvania senator before storming out of the private room where the meeting took place.

Gotta love it.

p.s. Feingold is a jerk.

Bush ok's 370 Mile Fence

FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS

On his way to make a speech in Arizona today, which is the belly of the beast as far as illegal immigration goes, President Bush said he supported the 370 mile fence that the Senate approved yesterday.

"We dont think you need to fence off the entire border," [Tony] Snow told reporters aboard Air Force One. But, he added,"there are places where fences areappropriate."

Absolutely. Good move W.

Guilty Until Proven Innocent

SEMPER FI?

Congressman Jack Murtha decided to basically convict some marines who he clams murdered a bunch of civilians in Iraq. Remember now, Murtha was in the Marine Corps for more than 30 years, now he does everything in his power to crap on the Corps. Here is a small transcript of what he said last night to Chris Matthews.

Matthews: Lete me as you Mr. Murtha to give us some detail about that. Draw us a picture of what happened at Haditha.

Murtha: Well, Ill tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we're going to take care - we dont know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and they actually killed civilians. And, and -

Matthews: was this My Lai? Was this a case of - when you say cold blood congressman, a lot of ;eople think you're basically saying you got some civilians sitting in a room around a field and they're executed.

Murtha: That's exactly it.

Thank you John Murtha for trying to make people hate our troops like they did during Vietnam. He never gives them credit for anything, only to undermine the war effort and hurt the president. How this kind of cowardess and ignorance can get elected, Ill never know. This man is a disgrace to his country.

Any Calls Yet?

ALEC BALDWIN TRIES TALK RADIO...AND FAILS

Its no big secret that actor Alec Baldwin likes to discuss politics, but he sounded like a moron when he tried filling in on talk radio the other day.

Baldwin kept repeating "any calls yet?" to Ivan the call screener when he was filing in for a talk radio host on WPHT.

After several times inquiring about calls, and not receiving any, Baldwin resorted to bashing Sean Hannity by calling him a "scientologist".

Now, Im not here to bash Baldwin's acting ability, I mean I loved 'Pearl Harbor' as much as the next guy, but the dummy does not belong on talk radio, or anywhere in the political arena. He's a complete bafffffffoooooooooooon.

Dow Dumps 214

OUCH

The Dow Jones was down 214 points today which is the worst single day for blue chips in three years. And if you care, I got slammed today on the crap that I own. Evidentally, inflation numbers were the culprit as investors are worried that the fed will continue raising interest rates. Not good.

A little good news today however was that oil prices dropped below $69 per barrel. But dont expect to see any quick relief at the pump.

Bring on the Jobs

HONDA LOVES THE BUCKEYE STATE

Here is some potentially great news for Ohio. Honda, who already has a couple of assembly plants in the state, is looking to maybe add another very soon. If Honda would choose Ohio, our state could soon challenge Michigan as the biggest carmaker in the United States according to an article at cleveland.com.

Honda has been growing slowly but steadily. It needs to be able to build more vehicles in the United States because it is introducing so many new models, said Jeff Schuster, executive directore of global forecasting for J.D. Power and Associates, a market research firm.

There is a chance the state could overtake Michigan, which for years has led the nation in the number of cars built.

In 2005, Michigan built almost 1.2 million cars, compared with 882,222 cars from second-ranked Ohio, according to WardsAuto.com, which provides auto date and analysis from Ward's, a Detroit publisher. The ohio number also includes the Chevrolet Colbalt and Pontiac Pursuit built by General Motors at Lordstown.

The article is not sure where the plant might be built if Honda chooses Ohio, but it is rumored that Van Wert, which is near Lima, could be a potential location.

"We expect Honda will tell us more about our sites within the next month," Johnson said. "I know they have a very aggressive timeline, that speed is extremely important."

Indiana is also in contention for the new plant, but my money is on Ohio, we do it better over here.

Good Article

BLACKWELL vs. STRICKLAND -- PART I

Very good and informative article at realclearpolitics about the campaign for the next Governor of Ohio. It gives a very equal and unbiased view of both candidates, which is always nice. Here is a snippit on Blackwell:

Blackwell is perfectly constructed to weather Ohio's roiliing political seas, which have been wh ipped by the winds of scandal, crime, and economic decline. He's an outsider who was against the Republican Party apparatchiks before the indictments came down. But as Secretary of State, this maverick's an insider as well, with state-wide name recognition, organized support, and a lot of people who have voted for him in previous state-wide races.

True That. Read the whole thing.

Adios Polipundit

NO BLOGROLL FOR YOU

I have decided after a very heated debate with myself (actually about 2 min) to take Polipundit off of my blogroll and not to endorse his site. The guy has really been pissing me, and alot of other people off lately with this obsession over the immigration issue. He basically slams President Bush, whom he now refers to as "El Presidente Arbusto", every single day. It really is like going to a very liberal blog rather than one which considers itself conservative.

And yesterday, Polipundit basically fired the guest bloggers who have been on his site for years because of their disagreement over immigrations. That is just ridiculous. So I hope all of you out there will follow suit and dump that site until he gets his act together, because right now polipundit it doing much more harm than good. Take him off your blogrolls. Thanks.

Hardball in New Orleans

IS CHRIS MATTHEWS OBSESSED WITH BUSH?

I watched most of the New Orleans Mayoral debate tonight on MSNBC, and Chris Matthews was one of the moderators. All Matthews seemed to care about is the federal government and Bush's response to the disaster. The entire thing was about Katrina, and I would say about 40% of the questions had to do with how the two candidates felt about George Bush. What that has to do with rebuilding the city is beyond me.

In fact, there really was not any substantive debate on actual policies that the men running might enact upon their election. Chris Matthews asked both candidates whether they approve or disapprove of President Bush's job performance. Now both candidates are Democrats, so Matthews has to be smart enough to know that they probably dont agree with the President on anything. Matthews even asked the candidates about his speech last night, and neither one watched it.

I feel bad for the people of New Orleans, at least the ones that are left. The debate tonight shows that neither candidate seems to have a plan to rebuild that city, and if they do, they were not able to talk about it since Chris Matthews was so obsessed with national politics. It really was pathetic, and Matthews did a disservice to the people of New Orleans who might vote in Saturdays election. Gotta love playing T-ball with Chris Matthews.

The Senate Just Dont Get It

NEITHER DOES DEWINE

I dont know what the hell Mike DeWine is thinking. The man is up for re-election against a candidate who could beat him, and he decides to vote against the bill in the Senate that would demand we secure the border first before working on the guest-worker program and other measures.

Michelle Malkin has a list of GOP Senators who voted against this important bill:

Bennett (UT)
Brownback (KS)
Chafee (RI)
Coleman (MN)
Collins (ME)
Craig (ID)
DeWine (OH)
Graham (SC)
Hagel (NE)
Lugar (IN)
Martinez (FL)
Murkowski (AK)
Shelby (AL)
Snow (ME)
Specter (PA)
Stevens (AK)
Voinovich (OH)
Warner (VA)

R's that Didnt Vote:

Cochran (MS)
Gregg (NH)
Lott (MS)
McCain (AZ)

The Republicans in the Senate are disgraceful on this issue. I just dont understand why they are so weak on tough immigration defense reform. They dont seem to want to secure the border. I find it astounding that BOTH Ohio Senators voted against this bill, DeWine especially. A new poll has Sherrod Brown beating Dewine by 3%, and I can tell ya this wont help. He needs to wake up or hes gone in November. The entire Senate needs to wake up. I just dont get his...at all.

Great Speech?

CNN VIEWERS LIKED IT

I dont know if its a blessing or a curse, but a CNN poll out about the presidents immigration speech last night overwhelmingly gives him credit for his plans.

See it for yourself.

-Brad

Rating W's Speech

7.5/10

To be perfectly honest, I liked most of what the president had to say last night. I like the idea of the National Guard going down and protecting the border from intruders. As a matter of fact, I would put more down there than just the 6,000 that Bush is proposing. I would probably put at least 12,000 there to guarantee that there are not more problems. I really hope that 6,000 is enough.

Next, I also like the idea of training alot more border patrol agents. I think Bush said that he wants to add 6,000 border patrol by 2008, then take the Guard away from the border once the Border Patrol is ready to effectively handle the situtation. Thats fine with me, as long as the Border Patrol can do the job without the backup of the National Guard.

Another aspect of the president plan that I liked was how he said that it was not practical to round up the 12 million or so illegals that are already in this country. He's absolutely right about that. As much as conservatives like to bitch about it, there is not practical way to just throw all those people out of the country. So he wants to help them assimilate into the culture but also punish them for being in thsi country against the law, the he wants them to go to the back of the line in regards to gaining citizenship. I suppose thats the only option. Yes, it basically is amnesty because they do get to say in the US, but like I said you cannot just round them up and toss 12 million people into paddywagons and drop them off in Mexico. Unfortunetaly, the reality is that what Bush said to do is the only option.

The only part I dont like about Bush's policy is this guest-worker program, because we just dont need it. With 12 million illegals here today, we do not need to let more in to do work because there are plenty here to do it right now. The ones already here can do the work that Americans appearenly wont do according to the president, no need to let more come over here to do it. I really dont understand why he is so set on this guest-working thing, I think it is a very bad idea.

Overall however, he gave a pretty good speech last night. He was focused, powerful, and very presidential, which is important. The speech was well worded and well written. I do believe this will help the president, especially with more moderate voters. He wont get a break from either extreme politically because he didnt say to open the border completely, nor did he say to throw out all illegals here now and build a wall. But his ideas were practical and should stop about 90% or more of the influx of illegals we see today. Lets hope and pray his plan works because in all seriousness, our nation depends on it.

Cavs Win!!!

SCREW YOU RASHEEEEEED

Rasheed Wallace can kiss my butt for his little "guaransheed" victory tonight by the Pistons because the Cavs played some impressive b-ball to tie the series up at 2 games a piece. Now I am fully aware that we must now go to Detroit and play on Wednesday, but at least now we know that there will be another game in Cleveland, on Friday if Im not mistaken.

I still im not convinced the Cavs have a chance to win the series, but they certainly made things interesting with that stellar win tonight. Gotta love Cleveland baby! GO CAVS!

Rove Speaks

WORDS OF WISDOM

Karl Rove gave a speech today at the American Enterprise Institute in D.C. and here is what he had to say courtesy of Drudge:

Rove: Look, we're in a sour time. I readily admit it.

I mean, being in the middle of a war where people turn on their television sets and see brave men and women dying is not something that makes people happy and optimistic and upbeat.

But Im absolutely confident that -- I heard this same kind of language about the 2004 elections in roughly thte March, April, May, June period of June 2004.

We're going to be just fine in the fall elections.

And we're going to be fine because we stand for things that are important. We stand for strong natural defense abroad and complete victory in the war on terrorism which involves victory in Iraq.

We stand for a strong national defense. We stand for economic policies that are pro-growth, involving tax cuts and free trade. We are strongly for fiscal restraint in the budget process.

And our opponents, at this point, stand for little or nothing, except mere obstructionism. Whether it is the nomination of superbly qualified men and women to the judiciary, or our policies to reauthorize the Patriot Act to keep American safe in a time of global terror, the other party seems to stand for little except obstructionism.

And ultimately, the American people are a center-right country, who, presented with a center-right party with center-right candidates, will vote center-right.

I feel better now.

Watch Bush's Speech Tonight

SHOULD BE INTERESTING

The President will address the nation about immigration tonight at 8:00 clock SHARP (he likes to be punctual). I hope he has some serious substance in this speech, because saying things like "guest worker program" and "jobs Americans wont do" are not going to help him and those key word will infuriate his already dwindling base. Ill recap the speech tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. Cant wait till 8.

The Media vs. National Security

CIVIL RIGHTS OR YOUR LIFE?

Unless you dont have a brain in your head, it is extremely evident that the media in this country hates George W. Bush. This fact comes out time and time again, and almost everything Bush does, says, and proposes, the media attacks him. The most recent issue that has sparked another mainstream media blitzkreig is the NSA wiretaping and data collecting program.

The American people are behind these programs and overwhelmingly understand that doing these sorts of things are necessary if we want to be safe from attacks in the electronic age. A Washington Post poll said that 66% of Americans approve of what the NSA is doing. But the media is up in arms. Every news network you turn on is talking about this, and most are saying that is unlawful, and how doing this impede's on people civil liberties.

I dont know about you, but I am willing to give up some of my civil liberties if it will keep me and my family safe from terror attacks. We need to be able to track terrorists inside this country who might be plotting a huge attack that could literally wipe out an American city. If we were doing this before 9/11 we most likely could have avoided what happened that morning.

People like Jack Cafferty on CNN say that the Bush administration is basically a dictatorship. Why? Because Bush and his security policies have prevented another terror attack from happening on American soil in nearly 5 years. Nobody expected that we would not see another attack after Sept. 11th, but its happened, and we must give the government credit for protectiong us.

No one is listening in on the average person's phone calls. That is not the point to this program. It is to monitor people suspected of terrorist ties living among us making or receiving calls from abroad. Again I reiterate, this type of program is detrimental to keeping us all safe. But that doesnt satifify the liberal media types who want to undermine the president anyway they can, even if it means putting people at risk.

The NSA program is going to end up as a victory for Bush and I believe it will eventually help his poll numbers a little. I say a little because most polls being conducted are not entirely accurate, as can be proven by looking at the actual sample and seeing that they poll more Democrats than Republicans in almost every major poll. But beyond that typical political BS, just know that what the president is doing is legal, while simultaneously protecting your privacy, and saving your life. Dont let the media fool you.

Democrat Says Holocaust Myth

LA-LA LAND

Check this:

A Democratic candidate for Alabama attorney general denies the Holocaust occured and said Friday he will speak this weekend in New Jersey to a "pro-white" organization that is widely viewed as being racist.

Larry Darby concedes his views are radical, but he said they should help him win wide support among Alabama voters as he tries to "reawaken white racial awareness" with his campaign against Mobile Country District Attorney John Tyson.

It gets better...

Speaking in an interview with The Associated Press, Darby said he believs no more than 140,000 Jewish people died in Europe World War II, and most of them succumbed to typhus.

He also said:

"I am what propagandists call a Holocaust denier, but I do not deny mass deaths that included some Jews," Darby said. "There was no systematic extermination of Jews. There's no evidence of that at all."

I dont even know what to say in response to such nonsense. And I dont think Mr. Darby will be winning any political racists...I mean races any time soon. Thank God for that.

Want Immigration Reform?

BUSH TO ADDRESS NATION MONDAY NIGHT

President Bush is finally going to address the nation about immigration Monday night at 8:00. It is rumored that he will announce the the military is going to be deployed down there to stop the massive influx of illegals coming here. But exactly what he will say isnt known yet.

Its about time he did this, I just hope what he says will please people. We shall see.

Cavs guard Larry Hughes probably will not play tomorrow against Detroit because of the death of his 20 year old brother. His brother had suffered from a heart defect and got a transplant about 10 years ago.

66% of Americans Support NSA program

OTHER 34% WORK FOR THE MEDIA

Ok thats a joke, but the other part is true.

The new survey found that 63 percent of Americans said they found the NSA program to be an acceptable was to investigate terrorism, including 44 percent who strongly endorsed the effort. Another 35 percent said the program was unacceptable, which included 24 percent who strong objected to it.

A slightly larger majority -- 66 percent -- said they would not be bothered if NSA collected records of personal calls they had made, the poll found.

These results dont come as a shock to me. I believe most people realize we need to do this if we want to be safe. This program is simply trying to save Americans lives, and Im sure it will.

Cafferty's a Douche

CNN's FINEST

Jack Cafferty who has a segment called "The Cafferty File" on CNN said today that the US is becoming a dictatorship. I kid you not.

Cafferty: We better all hope that nothing happens to Arlen Specter, the Republican head of the Senate Judiciary Committee because he might be all standing between us and a rull blown dictatorship in this country.

Cafferty is referring to the NSA domestic spying program, he obviously is against it. He really is a mean old man. I dont think Cafferty has any idea how to protect a nation from the threat of terrorism. He is just the typical ilk that CNN puts on the air every single day. THIS is why their ratings are in the toilet.

Watch it here.

How Bout Some Poll Numbers on the Dems

WORSE THAN BUSH!

The New York Times wrote an article basically disecting President Bush's low approval numbers, but the last paragraph of the story caught my attention.

The political situation has not helped some of the more prominent members of the Democratic Party. Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, who was Mr. Bush's opponent in 2004, had a lower approval rating that Mr. Bush: 26 percent, down from 40 percent in a poll conducted right after the election.

And just 28 percent said they had a favorable view of Al Gore, one of Mr. Bush's more vocal critics.

Anyone actually surprised?

Hillary Clinton can be Nice!

...AND SHE LOVES DUBYA?

Its no secret that Bill Clinton is a personal friend of President Bush, but recently Hillary Clinton said some very nice things about the Prez.

Asked to say one nice thing about President George W. Bush, Sen. Hillary
Rodham Clinton went one better: She named two things.

"He is someone who has alot of charm and charisma, and I think in the
immediate after of 9/11, I was very grateful to him for his support for New
York," Clinton said Tuesday night during a talk at the National Archives about
her life in politics.

Clinton, a potential presidential candidate in 2008, said that despite
their "many disagreements about many, many issues," she has always had a good
personal relationship with the president.

"He's been willing to talk. Hes been affable. Hes been good company," said
Clinton, a New York Democrat.

The junior senator from New York, who is up for re-election this year, said
she is still thankful for Bush's personal commitment to helping rebuild lower
manhattan after Sept. 11, 2001.

She recalled how the president, in the grim days that followed the terror
attacks, pleged in a private meeting with New York lawmakers to help rebuid the
shattered city.

"It was a very personal, very emotional discussion and when we asked him
for the help that New York needed he immediately said yes," Clinton said.

At the Meeting, Bush pledged more than $20 billion dollars in aid and tax
incentives. Some New York Democrats have since charged the Bush administration
has fallen billion of dollars short of that goal because some of the programs
were underused, but Clinton said the president kept his promise.

"He always kept it on track," she said. "He made sure we got the resources
that we needed and Im very grateful to him for that...I am very appreciative in
the time when the people I represented needed his help, he was there for
us."

Hooooooooow Sweeeeeeeet.

Al-Qaeda is Losing

AND THEY KNOW IT

New documents found in Iraq written by the terrorists say that their job is getting harder and harder over there as US troops and Iraqi forces continue to adapt to their murderous tactics.

CENTCOM announces today that they had captured Al-Qaeda correspondence in Iraq that discusses the state of the insurgency, especially around Baghdad but also around the entire country. Far from optimistic, the documents captured in an April 16th raid reveal frustration and desperation, as the terrorists ackknoledge the superior position of American and free Iraqi forces and their ability to quickly adapt to new tactics.

The Liberal Mind

TRUE COLORS

Here is a review from Amazon.com by a man who supposedly saw "FLIGHT 93." I swear this is real. Here ya go:

I see reviews of people praising this movie as a "heroic" moment in Americas history. The truth could not be farther from it.

People in America need to wake up, this kind of propoganda is being fed to the US daily, this movie is nothing more than a lie to back up the "official" government story.

Why did experts on the site of the United 93 describe it as looking as though "someone had dug a ditch, and dropped scrap metal in it".

Why did the official corener on the scene report no blood being seen or gathered?

Why was United 93 reported as landing at an airport, and having the passengers evacuated.

Why did United 93 remain listed as an active airliner, after the 2 jets used in the WTC attacks were removed?

How were passangers on board the plane able to make cell phone calls when experts have concluded such calls would have a next to the nothing % chance of going through. And why would America Airlines later spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to make it possible to use cell phones to airlines? Because the calls from the airline on 9/11 were lies.

Simple research will tell you the truth.

IT IS NOT ANTI PATRIOTIC TO STAND UP AGAINST YOUR GOVERNMENT!

Our United States of America was founded because the pilgrams were tired of the leader ship of the King. They stood up against what the knew was wrong. If every person out there, refuses to argue with the governments side of the story, we are letting down the people that died to let this country exist.

Do not become another blind follower of propoganda, do proper research for yourselves, and the truth will shine upon you.

Do not support this movie.

In my opinion, this guy sounds like a terrorist to me. Anyone who does not think that what those aboard flight 93 did was heroic should be tried for treason. Those people saved this country a psychological wound of unimaginable proportions on September 11th and their story should be remembered and revered by every single American citizen. What this man wrote is proof that people that follow his ideology weakin this county and help our enemies. People like him are obsessed with false conspiracies to indict the US Government for every problems in the world. Im willing to bet this jerk didnt even see the movie, but Im sure he has "Fahrenheit 9/11" in his home DVD library. I would love to see him say this stuff to the faces of the families who lost loved ones on this flight, but Im sure he's too cowardly.

Pelosi Speaks

IMPEACHMENT LIKELY

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that if the Democrats retake the House in November that they will launch investigations into the Bush Administration.

...Pelosi said in an interview last week that a Democratic House would launch a series of investigations of the Bush Administration, beginning with the White House's first-term energy task force and probably including the use of intelligence in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. Pelosi denied Republican allegations that a Democratic House would move quickly to impeach President Bush. But, she said of the planned investigations, "You never know where it leads to."

There is no doubt in my mind the Democrats will try and impeach Bush if the gain control of the House. I dont think they will win enough seats as of now, although it seems they will make some gains in November. But I hope that all Democratic candidates are asked about this because the Dem Party is trying to keep impeachment hush-hush until after the election. Republicans and Conservatives cannot let this happen.

Cavs Win 114-113 in OT

MOVIN' ON UP...

In particularly thrilling fashion, the Cavs beat the Wizards last night, in overtime mind you, 114-113. The game should never have even gone into overtime but Gilbert Arenas hit a 3-pointer from about 34 feet away at the end of regulation to tie it up, he really is an unbelieveable player. But, he will be watching the rest of the playoffs from his living room as the Cavs are advancing to the second round, for the first time since the '92-'93 season. By the way, Damon Jones, who made the winning shot in overtime, sat the bench the whole game only to come it with a few seconds left in OT to make the big shot, his only of the game. Crazy.

The bad news is, the Cavs now have to move on to play the Detroit Pistons, who are the best team in the Eastern Conference. On the upside however, if LeBron and company can take down Detroit, it should be smooth sailing until the Finals. I am curious to see how much the series with the Wizards will have taken out of the Cavs, it was an extremely well played serious on both parts, so I just hope that the Cavs are rested and ready for the tough challenge ahead.

Do the Cavs have a chance in this serious, absolutely, but it is a small one. Detroit is a great team with an amazing defense, something the Cavs lack. But Im hopeful, and Im sure as hell going to be watching this series every step of the way. GO CAVS!

New Poll Numbers

A LITTLE GOOD NEWS

A new Foxnews/Opinion Dynamics Poll shows President Bush's approval rating up to 38%, thats up from that last poll which had the number at 33%. His disapproval rating also improved from 57% to 53%. It aint much, but ill take it at this point.

Another interesting part of the poll discusses potential votes in November. According to the poll, 41% of people say they will vote Democratic and 38% say they will vote Republican. That is a huge jump for the GOP in recent weeks. The lead for the Dems in the last poll was 48%-34%, so this jump is obviously some very welcomed news.

FULL MOON TONIGHT?

See the disrespect here.

Gotta love these idiotic, wack-job, no-class, A-holes...right?

-Brad

Absolutely Hilarious

OOPSIE!

Ill let the story explain this one to you:

Two voting-age sons of a northern Ohio candidate didnt go to the polls Tuesday, and their father's race ended in a tie.

William Crawford, trying to retain his seat on the central committee of the Erie County Democratic Party, and challenger Jean Miller each received 43 votes in the primary balloting.

Officials plan to conduct a recount, but the race may have to be settled by coin flip, said David Giese, the county's Democratic Party chairman and an election board member.

Crawford was able to laugh about it Wednesday, but he said his sons are going to be getting an earful for skipping the electin.

"Oh they will, let me tell you," Crawford said.

Son Jim lives across the street from Crawford's home in Castalia, about 45 min southeast of Toledo, and son Andy is a college student who lives at home.

Both are registered Democrats. [source CNN]

Id kill those two morons if I was the old man. But on the bright side, I love Democrats who dont vote!!!

Bush Promises Veto on Spending

BACK TO HIS BASE-ICS

President Bush is obviously trying to appeal to his base by threatening to veto new appropriations legislation. Bush said he will not accept a bloated bill, and that if Congress tries to spend more than he is willing to green-light, he will veto it. President Bush as never used his veto power, and many feel his spending has gotten out of control. Well this is a good move for the President, and I hope he keeps his promise if Congress defies him.

"The Congress needs to hear me loud and clear: If they spend more than $92.2 billion plus pandemic flu emergency funds, I will veto the bill," Mr. Bush said in a speech to the American Council of Engineering Companies in Washington. "Its important for there to be fiscal discipline in Washington, D.C., if we want to keep this economy strong."

And strong it is.

In a speech that brought the White House back to basic conservative themes of tax cuts and controlled spending, Mr. Bush called Democrats "consistently wrong" on the economy and laid out an extensive case for Republican economic accomplishments. [source Washington Times]

Good for him. He needs to continue to tout this economy, because its the best thing going for him right now.

There are your matchups for November, and they should be pretty good ones. The one major thing I noticed about these results is that alot more Republicans voted than Democrats. I dont know how much significance that shows, but the Dems need better turnout if they want to win. Cant wait for the fall baby.

Plain Dealer: Dewine up by 11 points over Brown

VERY GOOD NEWS

As no surprise to me, the Plain Dealer tried to put a negative spin on the good news for Republicans, but the proof is in the pudding. The title of this article was "Ohio Voters Down on GOP," I mean gimme a break. Mike Dewine being up 11 points on Sherrod Brown seems to prove the contrary does it not? That is a big lead with 6 months left before the election. But the article has very little to say about that particular fact.

It mostly discusses how bad Bob Taft is and how that will hurt Republicans later this year. Well, Bob Taft is not on the ballot in November, and the election will not be a referendum on him, and the Democrats in this state are going to have to face that sooner or later. I believe the GOP will be victorious this year, no matter how much the PD hopes thats not the case.

Sarandan: I Had Death Threats for Opposing the War

THEN SHUT UP

Actress and activist Susan Sorandan said in an interview that she received death threats for opposing the war in Iraq.

"I dont think that I ever thought someone would ever really kill me, although there were some people who said, 'Id like someone to knock her off,' on the radio and stuff like that," she said.

"And I dont think that I thought that Id really never work again. But when there is nobody else, when you look out on the field and everybody is quiet and they're all looking away and nobody's saying anything, its a really scary place to be."

Colbert Bombs

HE AINT FUNNY FOLKS

Comedy Central pundit Stephen Colbert was the guest comedian at the Press Correspondence dinner in Washington over the weekend, and the guy was horrible. He was on for about a half an hour but it seemed like an eternity.

He had to go on after the president who was great, standing next to an impersonator who was really funny. But poor Colbert had about two funny jokes in his entire set. He spent the majority of this time just bashing the president, and he didnt even get a laugh out of many of the media, who dont even like Bush.

I personally dont like Colbert or his dumb show. The act he puts on is extremely annoying and unentertaining. His performance Saturday night just solidifies how stupid his schtick is. I hope they pick someone better next year.

Ted Kennedy a Patriot?!?

PINCH ME

While playing Hardball, liberal pioneer Sen. Ted Kennedy says that the National Anthem should be sung in English. Now most of you might think that is common sense, but in America today nothing is. Here was the short exchange:

Chris Matthews: Do you think the President was right when he said the other day that we ought to have an English language Star Spangled Banner?

Kennedy: I think the Star Spangled Banner should be sung in English. Period.

I must admit Im shocked and delighted at that answer! Maybe there is hope.

You dont try to hurt the economy if you want to be successfully assimilated. I got some bad news for them however, last I checked, the stock market was up almost 40 points to near record highs.

I guess they dont mean as much as they think. Sorry.
