SOME NUMBERS
I found this today but appearently this story is from February. It shows where Ohio ranks out of the 50 states in some very interesting areas. Here ya go:
-5th in the incidence of women dying from breast cancer
-6th in smoking
-10th in obesity
-14th in infant mortality
-26th in overall health
-34th in per capita spending on mental health services
-5th in the number of machine gun dealers
-28th in violent crime
-18th in seat belt compliance
-42nd in traffic fatalities per 100,000 miles traveled
-1st in state support of libraries
-1st in state support of private schools
-18th in state support of K-12 education
-25th in the percent of 19-year-olds headed to college
-38th in the percent of adults with a bachelor's degree
-46th in equity of primary and secondary school resources
-50th in the ratio of students to computers
-1st in home mortgage foreclosures
-3rd in manufacturing
-7th in unemployment (5.9%)
-7th highest tax burden as a percentage of per capita income
-8th in conversion of farmland to development
-26th in the percent of people living in poverty
-49th in economic momentum.
Those are some pretty cool numbers. Some good and some not so good, especially that last one. Luckily, all the bad can be fixed, and hopefully it will.
